Lower Fraser has strong tide changes and out flows from rivers like the Pitt and worse yet the Harrisson are for experienced boaters. I would hope ROE KIDS dad has done alot of small craft operation to back up the safety factor. I'm an experienced boater, that knows knowledge comes from building up on safe boat handling techniques. Don't go in any boat your not very familiar with, or are competently taken in. I would rather drown than take someone on a dumb joy ride.
Pictures of a young fisher on learning curve. He was instructed about waring the life jacket on the Fraser, after learning how to operate the boat in safer waters this year. Take time to read tide tables and the affect of them(visually) on the lower Fraser, as well as negotiating stronger currents in smaller craft.
My 2 cents.
Water depth is about 3 feet during this shot, most if not all of the way (testing out new motor).

Has continued to ware life jacket to enjoy flossing Sox after canoe ride past hill-billy point.
