Let's clean the Vedder (and fish a bit afterwards)
« on: April 14, 2011, 12:54:07 PM »

This Saturday (as all of you know) is the first C/V river cleanup in 2011.
Having missed the last two gatherings due to previously acquired commitments (I hate missing cleanups, BTW), I've cleared my schedule for this Saturday.
I am driving to the Blue Heron early Saturday morning, departing from Burnaby.
I can take up to three more people with me in my truck. I'd be willing to pick those people up in the morning at Brentwood Town Centre Station (corner of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon).
Transportation is free (I won't ask for gas money as I am going anyway).

But there's a catch: after the cleanup, I'll be fishing with a friend from this board who can teach me (us) a thing or two about steelheading, and I am not planning to rush back home. Therefore, you'd need to clear your afternoon and just plan to do some fishing after the cleanup.

So there you have it - no excuses not to show up this Saturday for lack of transportation. Departure from Willingdon should be around 7:30 AM.
Please reply on this thread if you are interested and we'll take it from there.

Gawwwd, now the pressure's on ;)  The river's not as bad as we've seen in the past but still needs attention.  Thanks for posting this Milo.

Oh, c'mon Dave, you can handle it.  ;D

I'm surprised there are no takers after more than a 110 views.  :'(

I'll post this on another friendly forum - I'd really like to show up on Saturday with the truck full of eager cleaners/fishers.  :)

I'll be there, but seeing as I live up the road, I don't think I need to carpool there  ;)

I'd be there but my son has a ball game.  I'll pick up twice as much the next time out. ;)

For those coming to the cleanup tomorrow there will be a chance to meet Alexandra Morton as she and others will be at the GBHNR around 8:15 or 8:30.

Just back from another successful cleanup.  Good to see familiar faces (thanks for making the long trek Milo - hope you found more fish later ;), Buck, thanks for helping out), all the regulars and a new batch of parents bringing their kids.  I believe about 100 came out, very gratifying :)
I'm told Chris or Rod will be posting pictures.

Once again Milo a big thanks for making that long trek out to the Valley once again and hope you found a fish as a extra reward. I believe we had another 50 register at the Fish and Game registration so once another good turnout.
Was good to see Alexandra Morton visit us also as well Diane Janzen the Liberal candidate and Gwen O’Mahoney the NDP candidate in the Federal election take an active part in he cleanup.

My pleasure.
It always pays off to attend the cleanup (Check the report section). ;D
Especially when you get some very classified local knowledge from this guy:

He's very reclusive so I won't reveal any more than what you can see in the pic.  ;)

It was good to be out there and see the regulars.
Thanks for the fishing tips, guys.  8)

Nice working with Nancy and Chris and his son cleaning the gravel hole. Quite a big batch of garbage was hauled out of there.
Chris, if you read this, I have  a picture of you and your boy to send you.
