November 16th, 2005: Carcass Recoveries on the Seymour River

From Seymour Salmonid Society:

Hi Everyone,

We will conducting carcass recoveries on the following dates:

Nov.19-20th
Nov.26-27th
Dec.3-4th
Dec.10-11th
Dec.17-18th
In you are interested in helping out, meet at the hatchery for 9:30am and we'll head out from there.

Dress warm and extra set of clothes is a good idea. You'll need waders and we have some at the hatchery for you.

What are carcass recoveries you might be asking? Well it involves going out and walking the tributary creeks of the Seymour River and looking for spawned out carcasses of coho salmon. Why? We conduct an adult coho emumeration program to determine escapement. Carcass recoveries is one aspect in determining escapement numbers of coho on the Seymour River.

If you are interested in helping out, let me know. jamesweger@shaw.ca

Thanks,

James Weger
