Not looking for anyone's secret spots i have my own. Have had better success above mission so far this fall hooked some hudge fish this season and had many big ones break off . Now i have a quick release system on my anchor and should be able to give chase on them 8 plus footers as i have hooked several over 8 feet this fall.

The mouth of the Stave should be good in a couple weeks once the chum start floating down the river.

A 7 foot rod is a bit light. We're talking fish weighing upwards to a 1,000 lbs +

length has nothing to do with strength. I use a 7ft 20-50lb rod. and i fish from shore. Most shore guys like long rods but not me. If i were you i would get a Shimano Technium ($169) and a Penn 320GTi ($169). Great setup that will last you a long time. and trust me, once you hook your first you will be hooked for ever.

Lower reaches. Landed probably 100-125 this season since the end of June.

Keep an eye on that rod too, unless you are into donating things to the river. ;)

Good point IH8XC. In his post, Dan stated that it was a jigging rod. I don't think a jigging rod is going to hold up to a couple of hundred sturgeon especially in a river.

Lower river where we have seen each other Legend ;)
It has been really hot with constant hook ups...having fun and getting tired to the point we sit and watch the rods dance in the holder because we are too tired to keep playing....but only for a few seconds!!...won't be out this weekend as my sons class has a field trip on saturday to the Stave....

Have not targeted sturgeon for over 10yrs now. But in the past lower Fraser (Richmond area) seems to hold smaller fish. Then again this could be due to shore fishing limit.
