Rice lake March 22
« on: March 22, 2005, 06:32:24 PM »

With only a half day of work and the sun still out decided to unpack the trout rod, dig some worms from the garden and head to Rice lake.  On our way there we were slowed down by a big truck, turns out it was carrying LIVE TROUT! My girlfriend was pretty excited, and I was a bit too at the thoughts of some fresh meat in the lake. We fished hard for about three hours and only one bite on my rod, which I missed because I was too busy watching her rod, then I switched to a roostertail, and caught one fish on the second cast, the fish they stocked were pretty big closer to 15", but unfortunatly they only stocked it with 250. hatchery guy said that they might stock trout lake with a few tomorrow, and they will probably stock green timbers tomorrow as well.

That made me laugh pretty hard.... :D I bet you thought you were going to nail a few dozens today. ;D I know someone who would get jsut as excited when she sees fresh bagels being rolled out of the oven when shopping for food at Save-On Food and Drugs. ::) ;)

I think it is the one near lynn canyon.  If so, it will require a little walk in the trails to get there.

Welcome Marlboro man. Rice lake is located in the Seymour conservative reserve (formerly known as Seymour Demonstration forest). To get there, take the second narrows bridge across to North Vancouver, take the Capilano College exit, then head up that road to the college, continue until you hit the gravel road. Continue on gravel road until you get to the gate, park at the lot, follow sign to the lake. The walk on the trail is about ten minutes. There is a dock where you can fish.

went to Rice Lake today and tried for 3h.  Only got a nibble once and that was all.  Tried worm, trout bait, turbo trout bait, rooster tails...nothing worked...

Kinda disappointed.  I haven't caught anything since last October....   :(
if things keep up like this I think I will fish in my 75G aquarium soon. hehe
