Thanks for the info FM. BTW, what lodge did you used to work at ?

Also, I have been getting Korsch's reports for a while now, they're very informative. I've been out of town for a little while, so I havn't yet read the most recent one (see other thread: "South West VI"). Thanks though.

In the past, we've had quite god success near the QA arounf this time of year, but for our first trip of the seaosn, we decided to stick a little closer to home.

I'm hoping to get out a little later this week (I don't go back to school until first week of April). we drive a 17.5 ft aluminium with a 40 hp on the back. Well, from the picture, you ca see what I'm wearing, and that's pretty standard for what I have when I'm out.

Used to work at 3 lodges on Langara Island. I did 4 seasons as a full time guide, now I have a  professional career in Vancouver...so I don't get out as much as I would like.

by the way...here is another fishing report as published by "Bites-On", another local charter firm based out of the Bayshore.... This report is much more brief, but kinda gives a small peek into what is going on the local water too.

Downtown Vancouver Fishing Report

March 15, 2005

Vancouver Report:

For the past week we have fished the mile markers to the QA area when the seas have let us. Most of our action has come within the mile markers to the Point Grey Bell Buoy with the odd legal fish. Most of the fish are still in the 18" range and the seals are everywhere. Winter Chinook are bright chrome and fight like our summer run fish. If the seas let us we will be targeting the "Hump" area off of the South end of Bowen Island over the next week or two as this is the time our Spring fish tend to show up.

We have been finding some herring in the 3.5" size in some of the fish in the past 2 weeks so it would be worth a try to use herring or anchovy. Our most productive lure has been 3" Gypsy and Cop Car spoons with plastic lures coming in a close second. Depths in English Bay have been 50 to 110 feet with success on many days at the 50 foot range.

Over the next 3 or 4 weeks we will see our Spring run Chinook start to show and the fishing should really pickup. Winter fishing is normally slower than the Spring to Fall but we have had many good days. The days are getting longer and warmer with temp's in the 50's and lo 60's so give it a try.

Our updates will come on the 15th of every month so stay tuned. Good luck and tight lines !!

When you were up and around in Langara, did you meet/know a guy named Conor McMullen ?

I knew a Connor.. used to guide for Langara Island Lodge... used to run "Langara Island" or as it was lovingly called "Moby Dick" cuz it was a big white boat. I used to guide on that boat.. .:)

I don't know if his name was "McMullen" or not.. :)

I think you're saying that Conor ran thje big white boat, in that case, we are talking about the same guy. Steelhead King knows him too, he's a good guy.
