World Series: Bos vs StL
« on: October 22, 2004, 11:09:31 PM »

Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield will start for Boston in Saturdays game 1.  Woody Williams will get the go ahead for St. Louis.

It'll be a great matchup of 2 offensive powerhouses and 2 baseball crazed cities.

Who will win the World Series?.....

I picked Boston from the start so I'll stick with them in 6 games   8)

Boston will win, but I'm pulling for Larry Walker.

Well, we can also entertain ideas on how the Red Sox will collapse and lose the series... these are the Red Sox right.

In the 1986 WS, the Red Sox were up 2-0 and eventually lost the series when Buckner let the ball through his legs to allow the Mets to win.

:)Had to get over my depression!  Loved all the newspapers!  Choke word was everywhere and I tend to agree.  Those rods were hard to digest!  They splinter like fish bones but actually taste quite good with a little sauce!  Yanks will be back next year! They will buy the needed pitching!  Might pick up a shortstop that can play second base!  Sounds like Beltran might be a good right fielder and might as well move Shefield to dh!  Anybody want Giambi and a bunch of middle relief pitching!

I would like to say CArds in 7 but think it will be Boston in 5 or 6! I HATE THE REDSOX!  How can a team who makes 9 errors in two games win a world series? ???

Most of those errors were caused by that twit in left field and the 3rd baseman.  But amazingly, the Sox still won those games so they must have some serious mojo going for them this year.  They still need to win 2 though to erase the Babe's curse.

Looks like that curse is hanging over St. Lou.

Yikes...some serious lapses in judgement on the bases! :o

Congrats on the Red Sox!  They actually won a World Series.  Perhaps it took an eclipse of the moon for them to beat the curse  ;D

... I should have bought a 6/49 ticket on this day last Sept :(.

Funny thing about that curse...it was coined by a guy in about 1947.  It never really existed, but made for good headline material at the time.

Here's a bit more about it:
