I have been reading this forum for some time so now I contribute too. It is rather bad news for fishermen who park their vehicles at the end of LUNDSEN road (I hope I got it right). This is the closest parking if you want to fish by railway bridge in Yarrow (at least from the south side of Vedder)I got to the river about 6.40 together with some folks with Washington plates. When I got back to head home I see that some f....g idiots broke my rear window. There was nothing inside my car except some cds (they were stolen) so they scratch my roof with rock pretty deep and kick passenger door. Since my car is allmost brand new, now I understand why people sometimes kill each other.  For me is 300 deductible. I went back to the river tell the news to visitors from Washington, because window on their pick up was broken too. Lady lost her wallet with 400US in it and of course all IDs. Third car Toyota pick up - I thing car was empty and sliding window wasn't lock so no harm except the feelings. I called ICBS and drove to Richmond. For me Vedder fishing fishing propably ended if I don't find any place where it is safe to park (hope there are any). As for fishing supprisingly slow, about 15 people fishing 1 fish landed, lost couple mostly chums. BTW lots of helpfull info on this forum including previous break-ins.

Its too bad that it happened to you. Can't even enjoy a day of fishing without having to worry about some f****g idiot breaking into your car. I had mine broken into when I fished the Chehalis a few years ago. Now, I just open my windows and leave nothing in it.

Wish we could just wait for them and clobber them with my fishing rod!!!!!

I always fish where I can park close by.  Thanks to having a 4X4, I can fish a lot of pools and runs without being too far from my car.

Break-ins and vandalism can happen anywhere. The best thing to do is make sure you leave nothing visible in your vehicle. But, alas, even then the loser's and no-minds will do their dastardly deeds. I had two windows smashed on my Ford a couple years ago at a Hope fishing spot. Nothing at all was in my car to steal they just wanted someone to pay for their miserable life. Oh well life goes on and attitude is  always first and foremost. Smile, be happy and most of all, drink lot's of beer. . Good Fishing

Sounds like its time to put a sign that says "nothing valuable inside car"  and leave the ashtray open so that they can see i carry no change on the window when I go fishing.

I had my truck broken into last week, thankfully they didnt break a window, only made a huge mess emptying out my glovebox

Too bad about the break-in, Deadchum. Unfortunately it is all too common on the Vedder/Chilliwack system. I warned people before on this board about the great potential of having a vehical broken into. My turn is coming I'm sure. 

I want to take this opportunity to repeat that it is vital that you report any incident even though it will likely do no good. It is very important that the RCMP realize there is a problem out here. To report to the RCMP phone 604.792.4611. It is also important that you report any suspicious people hanging around the parking lots. All of us can tell the difference between fishers, sightseers and those that just don't fit the scene.

Remember, if you don't have a pen, wet your finger with saliva and write it on your window.  When you steam your widow you'll see what you wrote.  Then the RCMP can have a licence # to follow up on.

seems a little too idealistic to me but trial and error my friend.  gotta have lots of patience if your the one thats gonna be in the bush. i suggest shooting them with some elephant tranquilizers and taking embarrising photos of them. but thats my crazy imagination.

The bait car program works well in the city, why not in the woods.  Bait would be leaving some Sage and Loomis rods in the truck and leaving a wallet on the dash...

Listen for the motorbikes in the distance on the dike. When you hear them go then stop for a bit, then start again and go for a bit - drop your gear and vest and haul my friend up to your vehicle with a buddie and wait. Last year I was broken into by a bike rider. I was with my young son and he wasa the one to recognize that the bikes stoped up by our car. When we got there both door locks were pulled, gear was stolen then the jerks locked my doors and closed then. Well, how the hell do you get into your vehicle when the door locks are gone? I had to break down one of my fold down rear seats from the trunk to reach in and pop the lock open. I never did replace my locks and my car has been violated/entered again and rummaged thru but nothing was broken. The last unauthorized entry was under the KW bridge - three weeks ago.
