It's no specific enough. Nothing is listed for October 1st and beyond, so the general regulations for region 2 kick in, which means no fishing for salmon (including catch and release). I've sent an email to the resource manager last Friday and am waiting for a response. She has been on holiday until October 3rd and so far I haven't heard anything back from anyone. The Alouette regulations also need to be updated.

I think both the Stave and Alouette have now been updated. I was just checking a moment ago.
I live very close to the Alouette but I tend to not fish there as it seems like a fragile system.
Maybe I'll wander down for a evening cast or two.

Thanks. The Alouette regs are now updated. The Stave one is kind of good, there really should be a "no fishing" clause added under chum salmon for October 1st - December 31st so people are well aware of the closure.

I thought the non-retention listing for Sept may explain the conflicting information the OP had received. Whatever it may have been ceased Oct 1st & so would be the standard no fishing regulation for chum.

The Alouette update now allows the long standard 1 hatchery marked coho and 1 chinook and non-retention of chum... which is a bit of a contradiction compared to the Stave's chum regulation. Most other streams open for salmon are listed as non retention for chum

Well DFO best post/ issue a notice ASAP, seen a fair number of people fishing for chum in the main stem of the river on both the East and West side, also watched a dude net a big buck and then vanish with it on the East side of the river.

Seems a LOT of people think that they can either do catch and release or retain fish when they can't.

Nothings closed unless the close it to no fishing for salmon. Drove past the stave the other days and it was lined with cars and boats. coho fishing must be hot.

although this genius literally put fishing for chinook in the title.
