Chilliwack River, October 3rd 2019
« on: October 04, 2019, 01:14:29 AM »

Nina and I decided to sneak out for a couple of hours to do some coho salmon fishing. It took about 30 minutes to get the bites going, starting with a coho jack which I released, followed by a solid 8lb hatchery male which Nina landed. The rest of the outing was pretty steady. In total we managed to hook into twenty or so coho salmon, lost a few, released a few wilds and kept our daily quotas. All fish were caught by float fishing with roe, a pretty good lunch break!

Yes, we should just emphasize that the bite doesn't turn on until after noon, so there is no need to rush out to the river in the morning.   ;D

The rod I've paired the Tranx 300 with is a G.Loomis E6X, 10ft rated 10 to 20lb. I'm almost certain that it has been discontinued which is really unfortunate because it has been an awesome rod for everything... Chinook, chum and coho....

Fishing upstream of you is similar to fishing the Fraser after there's been a commercial opening.

Crickets... :)
