stopping rust??
« on: August 04, 2004, 08:26:09 PM »

I've just bought some sweet minnow jig lure patterns but have found some rust on them already. After fishing with them I rinsed them off in fresh water (tap water) then hung them above the sink for a night but have noticed some rust on the hooks already!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh why is this happening and what should I do to prevent this?

Don't buy cheap lures.

I don't buy cheap lures I buy some of the best jig  head patterns that Japanese fishing store have to offer.  Some of them are $25 bucks a lure!!! That's why I want to know the best way to protect them so I don't have t replace the snaps and hooks every 6 months.

I think I'll just keep sharpening the hooks and still rinse them off in clean water everytime.

I wash my saltwater gear with soapy water, rinse and dry them with a cloth. Never had a problem with rusting.
