Salmon Fishing, Harrison area early September?
« on: August 14, 2018, 01:03:10 PM »

I've been invited on a camping trip in the Harrison area, just wondering if there's any Salmon fishing that early in the season?

there are salmon in the river at that time - usually sockeye but they haven't opened it in years for them. Trout can be worthwhile.

Dogs will be in to test your tackle, retention will be a crap shoot though. Fun none the less

I was there Pink fishing a few years ago in early September and there were a lot of sockeye. Didn't target them because there wasn't an opening. Besides the Sockeye, you will find a few early Coho in the first half of September. The numbers will be pretty low though because the north side of the Fraser generally has later Coho. But every year is different. In 2012 I caught one around the second week of September, but other years I didn't see a single Coho come out of there until October.  If you want to try something different, Cutthroat is always an option.

It's open for sockeye now below the hwy 7 bridge.
