Where to register record size fish?

I was fishing for sturgeon bait the other day and I landed a few nice size chub then I hooked one around 4 lbs. It was too big for bait so I released but I was amazed on how big it was so I checked online for the record size chub and I saw it was 1lb.
So my question is IF I catch another goliath chub what do I do? I wouldn't having my name on the record book. (even if its a chub   ;D ;D)

First, I would be sure that I had the right species. If you are thinking you have a 4lb pea mouth chub, that would really be something. However, if you have a 4 lb pike minnow, then that is on the large side of average.

Definitely a big chub. There was lots of pikeminnow but they were much smaller. Im gonna take a pic next time just to make sure.

It is unlikely to be a peamouth chub. Peamouth chub's average size is 8 to 10 inches, biggest recorded was up to 16 inches long. It was more likely to be a largescale sucker.

bigest iv seen was around 18-20 inches in a slough connected to the Fraser.It was caught by a carp angler this spring.

they can get a lot bigger. Double digit weights and lengths approaching a meter are recorded.

I doubt there is a pea mouth chubb in BC over a lb. There are other species, like Mountain whitefish and even lake whitefish that look similar and will get to 4 or 5lb (RMWs) or even 10lbs (Lake White fish)

It would be interesting to see some stats regarding IGFA submissions accepted vs those refused, and the reasons why (improper documentation, line size, third party handling of a fish while handling, etc.). I know a fellow who had filleted a sockeye before realizing it was a world record size! This was back in the 90s.

BTW the world record pacific spiny dogfish is only 12 lbs. Should be easily broken!
