Shawnigan Lake, April 29th & 30th 2017
« on: May 02, 2017, 07:49:47 PM »

We had a couple of good days fishing for smallmouth bass at Shawnigan Lake last weekend. All fish were caught in around 10 to 15 feet deep, dragging a tubebait on a Carolina rig. Biggest ones were around 19 inches long. The rest were all between 16 and 18 inches long. About 30 were landed.

Nice catches! Do you keep any of those and cook them up, or all catch and release?

For this particular trip because we were filming an episode, I didn't want to deal with the mess so didn't keep any. They are very good eating fish...

When fishing for smallmouth in the Snake River near the Idaho/Washington border (from shore), I found they did just fine in a bucket for hours.  Except for that time I caught a mink trying to steal a 16" fish out of my bucket!  Those things are sneaky.
