The body and dressing looks interesting and I am sure the dressing alone is good for attracting returning salmon but I am not a fan of these old school French Mepps Aglia style blades. They just don't spin as well as more modern designed blades that are out there. As for the body, I am a fan of bodies that are made out of metal as it gives out more vibrations and sound when the blades hit the body. The body of these lures don't look like they're made out of metal. The colours of these lures look very good for the body and dressing, but the blades colours are nothing too special.

I would think attaching a squirt on some spinners you may already have would have the same effect.  I've seen guys crushing it rigged like that.

No... I mean a squirt. A squirt is a mini hoochie perfect for this application. They're used in the chuck to for sockeye fishery.

I think trophy tackle was making something similar.  at least they are local and cheaper too.

though the spinner before hootch is a fairly old technique.  growing up, that was what I used for 90% of the salmon I caught..... small slinky weight, spin n glo, small bead and a hootchie.  classic bottom bouncing.

I just typed in "Squirt hoochie" to have a look at what size was being referred to - I don't recommend that search at work - Bow-chikka-bow-wow!

Has anyone found it helpful to attach a curly tail grub to a spinner hook?

I usually tie soft feathers on or near the hook, but it seems so much easier to just add a soft plastic lure.
