I laughed when I saw the other thread that started today saying it was official that the Sockeye was opening Friday. As early as last night FWR site was the first to break the news of the sockeye opening.
Even though there was a few doubters except for the Good Doctor the early notice given to this board was so people could book their holidays as early as this morning.
The opening will most likely run for an month or so.
Commercial activity should start around July the 26 on the Fraser for sockeye.
A boundary from the point at the mouth of the Sumas River across to a house on the right bank of the Fraser will come in effect around August the 22 to protect the Cultus Lake sockeye. Not sure if this will be a sockeye closure or an angling closure for salmon that will be all the way down to the Fraser's mouth.
We are trying to get the Harrison open for sockeye for anglers that will not TOW. This was open for two years and wehad some good angling by short floating with krill, ghost shrimp and a very sensitive float.
Had a short trip with my son and 1 year old 2:40 Jamie checking out Maple Leaf Bar for the trip with Max and his son tomorrow. Jamie certainly enjoyed his first ride ever as was Leaf Craft honoured to provide him with it. Her 2 decals were in fine form reflecting the suns ray off them as she rolled on the mighty Fraser this afternoon.
Leaf Craft was very pleased to have 3 generation of Leaf fans aboard
rolling rolling right along.
She also will be a gracious host to Canuck fan Max tomorrow and hope to be able to find a spring for him. Friend Gary will be along as well to increase our chances of finding a blunt nosed chinook for one of us.
River is on a slight rise but conditions were perfect tonight so hope it holds on for the trip tomorrow as our confident level remains high after an excellent bar fishing year to date.
Got to go as a spring salmon steak is ready for a late supper.
Only 8 hours Max until the bells start to ring.
