Where to stop on the way from Vancouver to Bella Coola

Hi Guys,
Myself and some friends are planning on travelling from Vancouver to Bella Coola for a few day drifting the river with guide to photograph the Grizzlies in late August, because we are flying in from the UK, we might miss the only flights to Bella Coola on the same day, it looks like a 11hr drive so I would like to get out of the city and travel to Williams lake or somewhere half way to photograph some species, would be grateful if anybody could post some ideas, I will hopefully be over to do a little fishing and take the drive up to Bella Coola which I did a few yours ago.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
