May Long Weekend River Fishing
« on: May 20, 2016, 07:15:07 AM »

Hi,

This coming weekend I was thinking of trying my luck on the vedder, hopefully theres a few trout around. I wondered if anyone had any fly recommendations?

I have tied up caddis pupa and am going to tie some pheasant tail nymphs, just wondering if there something else I should consider.

Also I might try a couple of lakes in the mission area, problem is I dont have a boat or float tube so restricted to shore fishing. I live really close to Elbow lake on the Chehalis forest service road, but shore access is tight there. Maybe thinking Hicks or Deer lake in Sasquatch but not really sure how they fish from the bank.

Thanks and have a great long weekend.

Just keep in mind the Chilliwack/Vedder is only open from crossing bridge down for fly only. Also there was a recent release of 125k steelhead smolts into the river as well as mending melts making their way back to the salt.
Hicks has a fair amount of shore access but Deer lake does not have much (few spots).
