Floating line
« on: September 29, 2015, 08:50:27 PM »

Hi I'm pretty new to fly fishing but have upgraded to a pretty nice Orvis reel and floating line.
I've read some articles that show coho can spook from floating line.
Would this be avoided by adding a longer floracarbon leader. What size flies are good for coho.

I am not sure if it's the floating line per se, so much as they can be spooked by the line hitting the water. I often use a longer leader when fishing floating line (which I usually only use if the water is under a few feet deep.  I usually use a an intermediate sinking clear line 4-6 feet of leader with 6-8 lb fluorocarbon tippet and #6-8 wholly buggers or rolled mudlers.
