Zodiac at Ambleside Questions
« on: September 03, 2015, 06:32:07 PM »

I am thinking of taking my small 10ft zodiac out at Ambleside tomorrow.  Is it worth it still?  Any suggestions?  Have a small 4HP motor.  Was going to try fly fishing at the mouth and some easy trolling out to the Pink Apartments.  Not doing the deep stuff.
Are pinks strill coming in?  Coho?  Any other suggestions?  thanks

Make sure you understand the tides and weather.
The rip can get pretty big and a 4 hp is only a motorized set of oars.
All your fish questions are in other threads.

Have your safety gear and stay within your limits.

Better places to practice but we have no idea of your experience.

I go out all the time in my 10ft inflatable and 9.9.  Be wary of low tide as it rips through there, no point in trolling anywhere east of the pink apartments during this period as you'll just be fighting the current too much unless you're right in tight to shore.

Try anchoring close to high tide in the bay at the mouth of the Cap and watch out for flying buzz bombs.

thanks for the replies.  It was a typo my motor is 8HP  lots of power for a 10 footer.  Went to the Vedder instead and caught some fish.

Just a heads up:

"Vancouver Port - all year: For navigational safety, Port Metro Vancouver has prohibited fishing from vessels between a line drawn true south from Capilano Light to the shoreline and a line drawn true north from Brockton Point to the shoreline."
