Fraser Valley Salmon Society AGM, April 23rd 2015
« on: April 23, 2015, 02:08:39 PM »

Please don't forget that our annual general meeting is happening tonight at 6:00pm at Evergreen Hall in Chilliwack. This is your chance to renew or take out a membership, only $10 a year. smile emoticon Help support the FVSS that has worked for the last 30 years for you, the recreational angler on the Fraser River, yes our 30 anniversary is this year.

The evening starts with some great snacks and coffee from 6 PM to 6:45 before the meeting begins.

We have 3 guest speakers this year. Allison Colthorp the director of Tourism Chilliwack will speak about the economic value that the sports angling brings to Chilliwack.

Two representatives from Go Fish BC will also be making a presentation about their new funding model.

The evening ends with a number of prize draws, including 2 guided fishing trips on the Fraser River. One is for a sturgeon fishing trip donated by Great River Fishing Adventures and the other is a salmon fishing trip donated by Prestige Sportfishing.

You have to be a FVSS paid up member and at the meeting to enter these 2 draws so renew your membership before the meeting starts and have a chance at these 2 great prize draws.

Attendance was around 60 last night. The food, snacks and drinks were fantastic. The presentations by Tourism Chilliwack and GoFishBC were very informative. Dean did a great job hosting it as always.

Here is the recap of the meeting I added to the FVSS FB page.

Thanks to all that attended last evening for our AGM and to our speakers, Allison Colthorp and Vanessa Oddy from Tourism Chilliwack. Also to Mike Gass and Tim Yesaki from the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. Both presentations were very informative, we may have parts of these presentations here in the days ahead.

Also thanks to those that contributed prize draws, a sturgeon fishing trip on the Fraser River donated by Great River Fishing Adventures that was won by Jack Short.

Prestige Sportsfishing donated a salmon fishing trip, also on the Fraser River.( Sorry I did not get the winners name but see picture below.)

Other great prizes were donated by Freds Custom Tackle, Chilliwack Dart and Tackle, Fraser Valley Salmon Society, Kent Outdoors, Great River Fishing Adventures and Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, thanks so much.

Director Mike won the 50/50, just under $200, he looks very happy in the photo below, thanks to all that bought tickets.

Thanks to Murdena Basok for cooking and providing the snacks for the evening, we were well fed.

We were pleased to have many directors returning for 2015 - 2016 and to have Dean Werk back in the president's chair. We also welcomed 3 new directors, Terry Bodman, Glen Stoner and Chuck Roeballz Grant. Great to have you aboard.

We also would like to see more members join the FVSS to help us continue working for you, if you wish, send a cheque for $10 to the Fraser Valley Salmon Society, PO Box 42 Chilliwack Stn. Main, Chilliwack BC, V2P6H7. Life membership is $100.

Have a good and enjoyable fishing year, with family and friends.
