Great white shark in Washington waters.
« on: February 27, 2015, 02:38:17 PM »

Warning have been issued to scuba divers & surfers to be extra careful as a suspected 18 ft aprox. length shark is in Washington waters. A few seriously bitten seals have washed up on shores & via the bite marks experts have concluded it's from a "Great White".

Waters have been warmer than usual & with high seal populations it all has added up to having this shark come into these local waters.
Warning also has been given that Great White shark or sharks may come to BC waters.

Orcas do attack Great Whites.

Ya maybe some prankster should slowly tow a "fake" shark fin 100 yards behind their boat around White Rock beaches.
In reality a future possible story this summer:
" Man buys some fries & piece of cod. He wanders up to his waist in the water as he eats. Great White consumes the entire man in 3 large bites."

Odds of this happening. .0000000000000000000001 %

I'm staying out of the salt water!  :o

Of all the things to be worried about on the west coast, great whites are probably far down on the list... at least for me. :) To each their own.

As the Ocean continues to warm up we will continue to see species that are normally not around here come around.   But Great Whites usually run like cowards when orca's are around as orca's are their only predator other than humans.

Great Whites are occasionally reported in BC waters; the Charlottes, Denman Island and WC VanIsle (Tofino & Long Beach) have all been reportedly visited by Great Whites.

I do think we need a white shark or an orca or 2 to control the harbor seal population here in the Strait of Georgia.
