Christy Clark….Don't take away resident hunters' rights!
« on: January 04, 2015, 09:23:48 AM »

Another update to let you know what's going on regarding the allocation of wildlife in BC for hunters:

http://www.change.org/p/christy-clark-don-t-take-away-resident-hunters-rights?tk=GZ92Xi7X1ytzKHpra-ckbfDgocs80CYgXejOEQ4aG44&utm_source=petition_update&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=petition_message_notice

Even if you are not a resident hunter it is in your best interest if you are against selling off our wildlife to rich foreign trophy hunters while limiting hunting opportunities for BC residents to sign the petition that BC Wildlife Federation has put forth to chaqnge the allocation numbers.

Please help make this right.  I would really appreciate the signatures from any and all FWR members.

There is going to be a rally on the steps of the legislature early next month as well as other towns and cities throughout BC so it will appear that it was a well planned, coordinated event to the media. Basically, it will be an information session set up around wall tents to show the public that BC resident hunters are not happy with this back room deal between the guides/  outfitters (GOABC) and the government, that resident hunters hunt to feed thier families,,,,,,that BC resources should be for BC residents first. It looks like there will be some BBQ's going to share some wild game sausage, etc.

The day that has been set for this cross province event is Feb. 9, Family Day. Since this is Family Day this might be another message added to the mix:

What is Christy doing for BC families when she takes meat from your freezer and gives it to non-resident trophy hunters, who don't care if it's fed to the outfitter's dogs?

"Families First?" I don't think so. Hopefully all hunters and fishermen on this site who would hate to see fishing go into some allocation-like system in the future (ie. Thompson steelhead) will try to attend one of the rallies in your area.

The situation has deepened considerably over the past couple of days...

Gist of it is the GOABC "donated" more than $ 100,000 to Crispy & Crew, who in turn "donated" back ~ $ 380,000 (tax dollars of course) back to the GOABC.

Topping that off, the lieberals also passed legislation that allows guide operations to kill over their quota, with no legal repercussions.  ???

16.011 Despite section 16.01 (i), and without limiting section 60 (2) of the Act, a guide outfitter does not commit an offence if the guide outfitter has a quota assigned as a condition of his or her guide outfitter licence and allows his or her clients to kill game to the extent that the number killed exceeds the quota assigned to the guide outfitter.

A lot of info here, and well worth having a boo: http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?114649-Its-time-to-blow-this-up

Every inch that is dug, the STENCH gets Worse.  >:(

Whether you're a hunter or not, if this doesn't get you Steaming Mad, it's unlikely anything Crispy et al ever does will...

Drop an envelope to your MLA and Crispy Folks. Let them know we will NOT Tolerate this type of corruption & favoritism at OUR Expense!

Pissed!

Another reason why we needed a change in the government last election. Those that voted them in was as bad a call as the Hawks made in the Super Bowl on Sunday. ::)

Chris, what the hell is happening to BC? In the old days, it was about envelopes of money, now I believe it's bags. Just sad to see the debates.

I WILL be there, and Strongly Suggest that ALL who disapprove of the Lieberals selling off our wildlife resources to the highest bidder do the same!

Minister Thomson issued a press release yesterday regarding these matters:

"After more than 10 years of review and negotiations, it’s time to put the issue of wildlife-harvest allocation behind us and have some certainty....

Now that a decision is made
..."

Full Story here: http://www.castanet.net/news/Commentary/133967/Hunt-allocation-fair-minister

Obviously in his little mind, it's a "done deal".

Simply Thomson blowing more smoke up our collective asses.
Between him, Ellis (President of the GOABC) and other Lieberal members, so many different sets of "effected numbers" have been tossed out there that it is quite obvious none of them have any real handle on the matter. Or if they do, this is simply a tactic by design to confuse the issue even further.

The issue isn't really focused on "numbers", despite their cries that it is. The Real matter of concern relates to RATIOS of the split (sound increasingly similar to the situation we face with the Feds regarding halibut yet?) wherein outfitters will be afforded up to 40+ % of the annual allowable harvest - and interestingly enough, the "rarer" the animal (as in the greatest LEH subscription numbers) the Higher the allotment ratio is being spun towards the outfitters (GREATLY Reducing the odds of any Resident ever drawing in their lifetimes for many of those hunts). Just as concerning is the Lieberal's intent to Legislate the splits they have come up with for their conspirators.

For conspirators they certainly appear to be. What else would you call the "donations" from the GOABC directly into Lieberal coffers preceding the announcements that so greatly favor their interests (over $ 100K and counting)? Or perhaps the Lieberal government tossing back in excess of $ 380,000 tax dollars to the GOABC's war chest?

Even if one were to simply buy into the numbers game, detailed analysis points out the fact that moose, in one region alone, will realize a reduction of > 120 animals from the Resident's access, and gifted to the commercial outfitters. Smoke & Mirrors indeed!

Finally, it isn't simply the "decisions" being unilaterally made by the Minister on behalf of his GOABC supporters that is at issue. The whole damn process is Flawed through to it's very core. Terms such as collusion, corruption, lack of integrity, and questionable behavior abound. This latest attempt to defuse the controversy was intentionally timed to hit the streets on the cusp of the Protest Rally scheduled for this coming Monday at the legislature buildings in Victoria. It is a Complete FAIL, and Thomson's arrogance in light of thousands upon thousands expressing their very real concerns flies in the face of reality. Perhaps not such a bad thing after all - this condescending release has lit a fire under many every day folks once again, and more are climbing on-board and planning to attend the Rally as a consequence.

This is a Very Important Issue Folks! Already the GOABC has noted their intent to impose guiding requirements for Fishing on NON-Classified waters that fall within their tenures (public lands btw), and are further seeking the right to treat their tenures (again, public lands) as their own Private lands. Starting to get the picture yet?

This should concern each and every one of us who uses the back-country - even if only for fishing, hiking and camping.
The Lieberals are poised to sell us out. The best we can do at this point is ensure the Rally is well attended, and deliver the message that we Will Not Sit Idly By and let our access to our own resources be sold off to the highest bidders!

I'll be wandering down from Port with a full truck, followed by several vans and other trucks. A bit costly alright, but none of us are willing to face the consequences of doing nothing!

See you in Victoria!!

Cheers,
Matt
