Stamp River - Back in Shape, Fresh Fish
« on: December 15, 2014, 10:49:14 AM »

Good News,

The river came back into shape quickly over the weekend with the dropping temperatures. By late Sunday we were back out and into fish.

The upper river levels are ideal, still high but good clarity. There are fall fish in the upper with a few chrome winters showing up in the mix.

The middle section has reports of fresh fish in Stamp Falls pool yesterday and downwards.

One of our guides bagged a fresh chrome Winter fish in the lower river and that hen has gone to the hatchery as part of the captive brood program.  They like to spread out the selection of the fish by both time of season and location, which helps with genetic diversity.

The Sproat river is still very high as Sproat lake is still venting its over flow.

So it looks like its "game on" back on the River. We had canceled our weekend trips never imagining that it would shape up so quick. Snap!

The river level monitoring system was wiped out at Stamp Falls, so we wont be able to receive data from that likely for the rest of the season. We do have data coming from the Upper river which helps with trends but its not always reflective of what is going on down stream after all the other creeks and rivers have filtered into the bigger system.  So keep that in mind when looking at the upper data.

We have trips this week so will update again before the weekend. Fingers crossed that a good push of fresh fish are on way!
