Can't go wrong with sea-worms or with squid. Shrimp does work but I find it gets picked off pretty quickly.

How's the crabbing from that pier? Took my 3 year old daughter for a picnic at the beach and saw some guys working crab traps from the pier. All they caught was huge starfish. Anybody get any crabs from there? Jighead, Fisher or Adanac should know  ;D. You guys seem to be fishing there a lot. Thanks guys  8).

Hey JigHead....I did mention your name ;D ;D. Come on now....give me your input. Is it worth fishing for crabs off the pier or you just end up catching starfish in your trap?

hmm let me put it this way.  Anyone that Knows something about crabbing wont crab at ambleside ;D     well like he said thoe... Ocasionaly theres some ok size one.

and if your going after greenlings/rockcod... look for the corner that has "Reserve for steve rockcod and luis" <- the luis got erased but ya... that corner is the best spot for the big ones :D ... perpare to lose tackle there though. theres a bunch of rocks and stuff there.

I haven't fished Ambleside since the 1991, lost my first lure, a spinner, which got stuck on the pier. Fish Assassin, Buzz Bombs on Ambleside? Any success? I've had a lot of success with Zzingers for Cohos and Springs while boat fishing in the Horseshoe bay area. I think Buzz Bombs are easier to control, attracts fish, but fish are less reluntact to strike a Buzz Bomb compared to a Zzinger. I attracted a huge sculpin (over 5 lbs) with a Buzz Bomb.  Though, yes, Buzz Bombs are classics, and catch many species of fish.... Zzingers are better.

fishing from piers have changed drimatically.... seeing how nothing is what it used to be ... lures dont work to well IMO at piers anymore. well compare to live bait anyways.

im sure buzz bomb and spinners will work if salmons are around. but the only problem is... you cant really cast far enough with those. but .. when smelting season was still open. some dude caught a 5lb coho with his smelt net. i heard about this but never saw the fish. myth? you never know. anything can happen at ambleside. my friend marcus caught an octopus just a month ago ;D
