VEDDER TIME AGAIN
« on: June 28, 2004, 09:20:16 AM »

In perusing this site it is obvious that "my" quiet, serene, beautiful Chilliwack/Vedder system is about to become a zoo again. Oh well, you can't win them all. A request and a caution.
Request: Please, some of us are working hard to keep the Vedder/Chilliwack system clean and garbage free (Chilliwack.Vedder River Cleanup Coalition.). It's real easy to pack your cans, coffee cups, used line, etc. out with you. Thanks in advance.
Caution: Thieves are at work in the area. These sewer rats hang around parking lots like, Peach, Giesbrecht, Browne, and Lickman, waiting  for guys like us to leave good stuff sitting on their vehicle seats. It takes 30 seconds to punch out your car/truck window and steal whatever. It is recommended that you take the usual precautions. And PLEASE report any incident even if you think it won't do any good. Some of us locals are putting pressure on for extra patrols in the area for the benefit of us all. Those who report incidents help us make our case. Again, thanks in advance and "tight lines."

Thanks for the reminder Terry about the thieves and i always do my part in cleaning up.The easiest way to keep our rivers and streams clean is take your own garbage out and grab a little bit more that's not your's.

I could'nt agree more with the sentiments echoed. We must all do our part to preserve the beauty of the vedder system and other''s as well. To many times we visit mother nature and see in disgust what an un-caring slob or slobs will leave behind. And it's not that they don't know it's not right to leave garbage behind,
they do. They just don't care. I've told lot's of people to pick up thier garbage, some do and some don't. Man
it makes you feel like whacking them upside the head, but believe me. As good as it may make you feel, when
you feel his fist hit you back that feeling dissapears quickly. Violence as far back as history goes will show it
does'nt work. And for every garbage strewing loser you see, thier's two more right around the corner. You can't Beat them all, but we can try to educate those we see. Good Fishing All.

Ya Ive almost gotten into a scrap at the Stave once while me and my buddy Don where bagging trash during chum season (even the bags we were using were found ;D) one guy said hey good effort guys but a couple clowns took offence and were giving us the stink eye pretty hard for some reason. Also why is jones laidaw bar so bad for line every year? Ive picked up alot of line and bettys and stuff on lots of bars but that place is the worst, last weekend I had a wad of line the size of a laundry basket gathered up in about 5 minutes,
now how hard is that people?

I was lucky enough to be cycling from Yarrow over the bridge & along the Vedder Trail last Saturday and saw the area all cleaned up like I'd never seen it before. :o

I tried to explain to my cycling partner about how it used to look  but she couldn't imagine that tranquil beautiful place covered in garbage-which is good.

The efforts of past cleanups are paying off-I can see the difference.

Please.... as already so well stated, remove all your garbage when you fish... can you use some extra good karma? .... Take out more than you brought in ;)
