Is it possible (with a reasonable chance of success) to catch Sockeye on a fly rod from this location, or do most angles use spoons/spinners?

Hey Rod; you have obviously spent one or two hours at this location,  :) have you tried or seen anyone have any luck fly fishing for socks at this location?

Again, if the guides can't figure it out and they stand to make a lot of money doing it...it gives me pause.

Folks have been trying in the Steveston area for about 100 years, so far without any success.  Gill nets work.

I've caught a few on spoons, a couple of other colleagues have caught a few on flies and spinners.

Heavy buzz bombs and trolling jigs may better your odds to get it out fad and get it deep  to where the fish may be.

I know the pink runs are on the odd years, but are there still enough on the even years that they're worth fishing for at garry point?
