Sockeye and blobs!
« on: July 15, 2014, 09:47:41 PM »

So with the impending sockeye run and a hopeful opening, I am wondering if swinging a blob on a spey would be a nice non flossing productive way to catch some sockeye for the freezer.

Of course it means I need to tie some blobs.  Just wondering if I can do this somewhat fly like and trigger a strike.  I do not overly care about the deep hooking aspect if it is a sockeye because it would be coming home, unless I get some bycatch...

best fly for me swinging for sockeye has been a white/chartreuse clouser. I tie them on small size 4 hook and no longer than 3" in length, they also work great on pinks  ;)
