Capilano River, July 5th 2014
« on: July 06, 2014, 11:39:20 AM »

I hit the Cable Pool yesterday.  Dozens of fish, mostly coho with the odd steelhead.  Nothing was biting.  Tried every lure, single eggs, plastic eggs, and egg sacs.  The fish were lockjawed.  I could watch them physically move away from anything that got within six inches of them.

I had hoped that drifting eggs or egg sacs slowly in front of them would trigger a bite but nope, they just moved away.

Also tried pink wool, same response.

I'll be trying the mouth of the Cap next time.

Edit:
Almost forgot, saw two trout caught.  One released, one kept after it was deep hooked (it was offered to me, I declined).

How about the fly guys? Did you see any of them hooking anything?

Nope, nothing.  The salmon and steelhead were repelled by everything.  The two trout were caught on live dew worm and shrimp meat.
