Court Charges For Illegal Fishing.
« on: June 09, 2004, 08:59:42 PM »

Yesterday in Chilliwack and number of people charged with illegal fishing back in 2002 made their first court appearances.

No further details were made avaiable but heard the local paper is working on a story.

Anyone with any details?

I belived fishing when the river was closed but we will have to wait and see if the paper gets the details and the story or someone else finds out first. You could phone the Chilliwack FOC office or enforcement in Vancouver if you wish and you may get an answer. :D

Illegal fishing in 2002?  They'll probably get off because the bloody courts took sooooo long to get going.  What a shame.  I've seen so many people fishing illegally it isn't funny.  I even called in a licence number on a guy who killed a fraser steely about five years ago.  They let him off because he claimed that it came from the vedder.  My word against his. :'(

This can be our court system just look at the Air India case and the Millions of dollars this is costing. What is the answer? Fulcrum_29 can you shed any light on this?

The price of a democratic system I guess.

The defendant needs only to ask for an ajournment. A good excuse is all he needs and a few adjournments later, two years have gone by.

Also courts may be over booked and the case may have to be set for a later date.

The Statute of Limitations suck!
