Time to renew your annual fishing licences

Always thought it was a bit unfair to have to renew one 's fishing lic. in April.
Think it would be more fair "say" if one bought a lic. in Sept it should be good till the following Sept.
( good 365 from date lic. was purchased )

I like it the way it is personally. 1 day to remember for all fishing / hunting licenses and appropriate tags.

Why? What's your rationale? ???
When you buy a license April 1st, it is good 365 days until March 31 next year.

The licence expiration is fixed to March 31st of each year due to government's fiscal year, so they can do their budget more easily.

I can see why it seems unfair if you buy an annual licence halfway through the year and it still expires on the same day as those who purchase it earlier.

Noahs Arc's point is also good. By having a set expiration date for everyone, it is easier to remember to renew.

Ya pros & cons in the way it's set up.

Just do not like waiting in a line up with 50 people ahead of me renewing their fishing lic. on April 1 st. ( wink )

In the past 10 yrs we owned 3 boats.
The 1st one in 2003 was a really nice shape 1971 runabout ( windshield/35 HP outboard ) & the very first trip out on the Fraser R was totally a learning experience.
Never forget it.
The river barely had a ripple ( early Sept ) & the salmon were jumping everywhere ya looked.
A big RCMP vessel came over to our little boat & wondered how many fish we had caught.
Told them we were just out trying our boat for the 1st time.
Next day we raced over to a fishing tackle shop & got "2 fishing lic." & went out with the boat again & not one sign of any fish.
Life is a learning curve that's for sure.
One is buy your fishing lic. in April & get as many months of use ya can out of it.

Good ya reminded us to renew.
