Chilliwck River, February 20th 2013
« on: February 21, 2013, 03:59:43 PM »

Got to the mid river just after 8am. Water was looking real nice so I thought I would start by tossing a prawn. On my second drift my float went down but thinking it was a snag I slightly raised my rod only to see a big steelhead  jump and spit the hook. I quickly put another prawn on but after a few passes I decided to go with a nice chunk of roe. First cast and bang float goes down and the battle was on. The fish took three long runs and a nice leap. Once I managed to get it closer I saw it was a wild buck. This one was a little smaller then the first one. I managed to bring it in and we put it in Grant's tube for the hatchery. A nice 15lbs buck. I hit another fish about an hour later but after two head shakes it was gone. Saw a nice 12lbs hatchery doe and another fish caught just below me. All in all a great day on the river.

I think i saw you. I was across from you and saw those boys pull that one up too.
Managed to get a line peeler at the end of the day. Came up once before the line peel.
Looked to be about 12+. Could not run fast enough to catch up, and lost the jensen egg.
I think with the small hook, the fish did not get a good hookset. And i hung the egg on barely to the hook to avoid that.
Oh well, live for the takedown:)

Yeah that could have been me. There were only about 5-7 guys fishing that whole area so to see that many fish hooked is promising.might go fish it again tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah I was that guy who kept the 12lb doe. I seen you and your buddy tube that one, looked like a good sized fish from where I was.
