Wolf population possibly about 100 strong so the Gov. is allowing a wolf hunt.
Not to wipe them out but rather get the numbers down.

Cattle are being attacked.

( maybe they think it is wolves doing it but maybe coyotes are at fault Just a thought)

Going snow shoeing & a pack of hungry wolves start  stalking ya like in the movies

As far as I know Wolves have always been open at 3 per year. I don't know anyone who actively hunts them though. Likely to shoot one while hunting something else. Is this reference to some news story?

Yep I'm 95% sure it was on CTV BC news.( tend to watch that ch for local tv news )
About 2-3 days ago.
Cattle rancher says when he goes into the range to check on his cattle he now brings his rifle ; something he said he did not do in the past.
The way th story went it was like the Gov gave recent permission to shoot wolves in that area.

Seen the story on tv news but I checked out the newspapers & they also did articles on the topic.

"Return of wolves to Okanagan prompts open hunting season" The Vancouver Sun.
Also shows a pic of a " fat " Grey Wolf 20 km east of Kelowna .

This was a very good objective article as it gives dif. views.


"Okanagan wolf hunt Gov't approved ; shooting or ..." The Province newspaper.

Experts tell that hunters rarely shoot wolves because they are night hunters & are very smart & elusive but the gov. is allowing trapping & meat on a leg hold trap will fool the smartest wolf ya would think.(or however they trap them...maybe meat in a cage where a door closes )
Article also said that in the far past poison meat was dropped to kill them.
In Washington State just south of the border in the Okanagan area they shot wolves from a helicopter.
Smartest wolve cannot  outsmart that method either.
