My Date With Ms. Dolly Varden on May 22nd
« on: May 22, 2004, 04:56:23 PM »

Headed out this morning to the honey hole and arrived to see leadbelly and his buddy sitting there with their lines out. "Any fish?" "Yep my buddy here got into a Sucker and Steelhead smolt" Was surprised after them being there for an hour there was no Dolly's caught ??? Rigged up my line chucked it out and after a fish stealing my bait and tapping at it several times I pull the rod up and hook set. Beautiful 22.5 inch Dolly in leadbelly's net. Snapped a pic and back in the water she swam. What a fight!!!!!! Fished for a couple hours and leadbelly's friend hooks into a Steelhead smolt, then a Dolly, about the same size as mine, snap a pic and back in the water.  Then he hooked into this ugly damn thing, andother Sucker. Leadbelly and his friend soon left right after leadbelly got his 1st fish of the day, a beautiful 3-4 inch Bullhead ;D Within 15 minutes of them leaving tap, tap ,tap hook set, another Dolly on my line. Close to the same size as my 1st one. Sure is hard to take a pic and multitask like that trying to land the fish. Released it gently and swam away. The old man came right after that and there was my day. Great day and lot's of action :)

It's sure worth a shot. Went out today and was really slow, 4 rods out between 4 of us and got lots of hits but when I was there, there was no fish landed. Canoeman and Canoeboy came just before I left, hopefully they hook into one.

I was out near the pitt river bar fishing on the 22nd, and I only got one small rainbow type thing, but the guy fishing beside me got two nice dollies.  One had to be about 5lb! Anyways, they were definatly more aggressive while the tide was near its highest.

Maybe I will see you out there one of these days.

Jonny out  ;D

Kidlets and I were out in the lower Pitt for a few hours this evening. Only fish to the beach, besides bullheads, was a beaut 5-6 pound dolly. I let me son have the rod and it gave him quite a stubborn tussle.

Fellow beside us caught a hatch cutt and snagged a small sturgeon.
