Attaching Snap to Braided Line on Downrigger
« on: August 31, 2012, 08:30:18 PM »

Recently switched to 150# braided line on the downrigger.  I notice now that the snap doesn't grab the braided line the same way it did the wire line and that the snap now slides up and down the line.  I'm not very familiar with downriggers and I don't know if this is a big deal or not, or what to do to fix it, if it is.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   ???

The braided line is probably smaller diameter than steel line ,try bending the snap lever to make it tighter.

When crimping your snap swivel to the bottom of the Braid, I tie a knot, and then leave a tail, then crimp the extra, if simply crimping the line, it will slip and you will lose your cannon ball, which sucks. If you are having problems with your clip sliding up and down, use a couple S clips top and bottom, clip in between. If you go to Nika or Berry's etc, they will show you what to use. Good luck out there, catch an orca.
