Rolley Lake, June 24th 2012
« on: June 24, 2012, 03:10:47 PM »

Well I have not fished in a few weeks so decided to go out for a couple hours close to home. Setup the pontoon and off I went. Started trolling right away and missed one. I got to a spot where I saw a bunch of risers and continued to fish that area with lots of success. Fished from 11:30am - 1:30pm. Landed around 10 fish and lost a few

Going to start doing this more often. Lots of local lakes and with a 3wt its still allot of fun. Beats waiting for the opportunity of getting upcountry.

Nice lookin' fish!

I was thinking about heading out to Morgan lake on Wednesday -- and giving it another go with some fluoro on -- but may try Rolley instead; sounds more productive.

Did you troll the whole time?

I trolled until I got into fish. Than I setup an indicator line and cast a clear intermediate. I had success on both setups.

Which Morgan are you talking about? The one by Sayers lake up on the West side of Stave Lake? If so have you fished it much in the last couple years? Any success? I have not fished those lakes up there in over 5 years.

Nice. I just read a couple of reports on sharphooks and some guy said he caught 28 on a spinner at the north end, on one outing, and 11 a day or two later; sounds like they stocked it recently :D

Yes, I was referring to the Morgan by Sayres. Fished it last summer a couple of times with little success. A detailed report can be found here: http://www.flyfishbc.com/forums/threads/6262-Morgan-Lake-(near-Mission)-report

I guess they've started to stock it with rainbows because my Backroads Mapbook (2nd ed.?) says it only contains brookies. Would like to give it one more go this summer and will report back if I do.

Cheers,
