fishing around ashcroft
« on: June 17, 2012, 02:26:36 PM »

I'm heading up to Ashcroft for 3 weeks in july(1-21) and was wondering where would be good places to fish while i'm there. I don't have a boat so i will be fishing from shore. Will be using gear and flies. Also what would you recommend IE flies and sizes. Doesnt have to be secret spots.

early july the water is going to be huge, fishing will probably get better around mid month to end of july..... big stones in black/gold/green/brown....and big chew toys on the surface....lots of good water around ashcroft just explore...

Try Barnes Lake about 10-15 minutes from Ashcroft. It's always easier with a boat but the sold bottom and gentle slope would work for wading out and casting a fly. It's a stocked lake with up to 20 inch rainbows.
