Army and Navy downtown Vancouver has a box to put used monofilament in, pretty sure their other stores do too.

Took a bag-full of line I'd collected over a year or so to A&N in New West and was gonna dump it into their big fishing line recycling bin, but decided to double check with one of the staff, a yonger guy in the fishing department, and was very disappointed when he sort of reluctantly admitted that they actually dump all the line in a regular garbage bin outside the store once it gets full. I'm hoping this doesn't always happen but you kinda have a feeling that if not on a regular basis, it has happend before.
Really sucks to hear something like that knowing how carefully you've been collecting all the little bits in a bag over a long period of time.
