Capilano River, May 9th 2012
« on: May 09, 2012, 02:01:38 PM »

Water is low and there is not a lot of fish moving into the system. I got there early and it payed off got a nice jack ;D, I believe this was the only fish in the hole because after I caught that fish the other two guys did not catch anything.  Anyway, I went ahead and dissected the guts of this fish and man I can tell it had a full belly. I found a whole small fish in its stomach and some crab larvae. this was the first time I have ever dissected a fish's stomach I was so exited to know that at least this little fellow had a dissent last supper.  ;D still when the fish took my lure, it hit it like a train.  :o

Nice fish! Lighting would have been better if you took the picture outside.

It seems to be a small sardine  :-\  obviously squids do not have a vertebral column.    ::)

Looks like Pacific sand lance. Also an important forage fish for sea run cutthroat.
