Tidal Fraser River, September 20th 2011
« on: September 20, 2011, 07:43:21 PM »

Managed to catch the high tide again this afternoon and I'm sure glad I did.  Hooked 4 and landed 3 of them (much better landing ratio then most days) - 2 does and my biggest Buck of the year - he was huge and put up the longest fight so far (close to 20 minutes on my trout rod).  All caught on pink spoons.  Definitely saw more fish than yesterday, but still nothing like 2 weeks ago.  Sure was a nice day out there today!

20 minutes to catch a pink???  ???

I use a very light spinning rod and even the biggest fish I have caught never takes more than a couple minutes. My biggest this year is over 7lbs.

I was out tonight for a few hours. I went to the end of river Road near fort Langley and ended up fishing with randy for Hatch Matchr's and his kids.

Quit a few people out there tonight, but the only fish I saw caught were by Randy (2) and his Daughter (2), besides that, very slow even though there were some fish moving through.

I did manage to get one on the fly, but after a quick jump he broke my 5lb tippet.

I am going to be out again tomorrow, hope that the fishing gets a bit better than it has been the past few days!!

i too was at Derby reach from 2-4pm and only saw 2 jumpers and one was a sturgeon. Moved east to 2-bit from about 4:20-5:30pm and saw about 5 jumpers. No one at either location caught anything while i was around. Guess the seiners are doing a number on the pinks right now?

That's part of it, but the tidal fraser pink season is wrapping up as well... won't last much longer.

I was out this morning at Duncan and landed four in two hours so did my son. Saw others hooking into fish also, some even landed them. Going back out tomorrow, taking one of the old boys from our church out.

Probably the last weekend this weekend on the Fraser. Even this weekend on the mid to upper wont be as productive as it has been. I have enough smoked pinks. Now its time for coho and chinooks.
