In search of something new..
« on: September 11, 2011, 09:20:44 PM »

I am a fairly new angler, well versed in getting pinks on the beach, have hooked into many other specicis' of fish mainly on open water...

Since the comercial opening, the lower fraser has been DEAD at all of the spots I fish during the times I am there.. Wich has forced me into looking for something different to fish...

I really want to hook into a big slab on spring meat, and have noticed these oppenings..

Chehalis River

Chilliwak/Vedder

Harrison

Nicomekl River

Serpentine River

Seymour River

..

So out of that list lets start with the things I know (or think I do atleast),

The Vedder from what I have been told really has nothing to much going on rite now, and besides that your standing shoulder to shoulder with everyone from what I have been told.

The Harrison a couple of people have told me that it is great fishing when its hot, but it isnt quite there yet..

The nicomekl is a small river I fished with my uncle 10+ years ago, and remember getting into a couple decent fish, since talking to him, he informed me that there has been something done to that river at one point, that causes the chinkooks not to want to take your offerings..

The serpentine, from what I have been told is much like the nicomekl, a very sensitive area, small ditch, what have you..  anything biting in there?

And finally the seymour, by common sence I would say it is much like the cap, and since we have not had any rain in the last little while, there will be very few/no fish pushing up the river as the water line is low..

So this leaves me with where to go to catch springs/coho?.. Anything other than pinks...

And what does a proper setup for the sugested river look like?

I understand the Nicomekl/serpentine is a touchy subject, any information regaurding these streams please send it to me in a Pm.

As for any other information, that you feel shouldnt be shared with the masses' please feel free to Pm it.
