Here's a little lizard that I found when in the Valley of Fire State Park back in April...

Judging by the sole focus on the lizard - you must have been a little distance aways in order to not spook it.

Nice shot with the shadows.  The weather must have been hot.

Thanks David!  I was actually at the minimum focus distance of the lens (1.8m) so he wasn't too thrilled with me being around.  He was trying to be as still as possible to blend in.

Thankfully in April, the temps in Vegas only hit about 30C.  Not like now, where they are hitting 40C!

--Sort of... avatar is supposed to be a western skink... but I drew it myself, head should be flatter and didn't get in the blue tail.
--more of a reminder that these interesting critters are around when you take time to  look.
--I used to do forest rehab work... no brainier to replace trees, restore and protect riparian areas for fish, winter range cover for deer but there are always these little surprises that need the same attention.
