Whonnock Lake, July 1st 2011
« on: July 04, 2011, 12:10:21 AM »

Great lake to take the kids fishing.

Tried with powerbait and spinners for a bit without success.  Finally decided to go dig up some worms and found 2.  Those 2 worms caught about 20 crappies, 1 cutthroat, and 1 rainbow in the hour we fished.  All the fish were small.

you can catch crappie almost anywhere on that lake. They aren't hard to catch and are all around the wharf

Yes what FOH said.  Also close to the lilly-pads seemed best.

What is the basic set-up for catching crappies ???

It can be as simple as a small float, weight, hook and worm.

I would suggest "keeping" your (20 I believe) limit each time.

Get the numbers down, and get the sizes up.

They are a fun fish to catch when they get to size, and are fine eating.
