Recommendations on Thompson River Camp Site
« on: June 08, 2011, 01:16:22 AM »

We booked a rafting trip on the Thompson in late July and are now planning where to camp.  Any suggestions on camp sites right along the river with good fishing?

Juniper Beach is one option but it doesn't take reservations which might be okay....

any others?

thanks

There's Steelhead Park in Savona, provincial campsite. Goldpan provincial campsite just below Spences. Hilltop (private) just above Spences. Acacia Grove (private) in Spences. Lots of "rough" camping too.

For all but Hilltop (I think), bring earplugs for bed time. Trains in stereo.

Rock & River Rustic Retreat just up river above Walachen. Right on the river and good trout fishing up river at big bend/slide.

But as Quill said, some real good spots rough'in it riverside.

I have a trailer year round at Hilltop and is the most quite out of all of them. With a fruit stand right there and Mike & Jewel are great people.
