MayDay For Wild Salmon
« on: April 27, 2011, 03:05:28 PM »

Hey Amazing people,

I'm writing to inform you/ invite you about MayDay for Wild Salmon.
I'm in Nanaimo right now, and will be traveling around the South Island with Alex Morton and a few other Wild Salmon
People for the next few days, until we hit Victoria on May 1st and walk 22 kms together as a huge group -please come-
( working on rides for tired people and those with little ones and feel free to bring yer bikes etc etc)
Details of this walk and how to join it are below. I know that people are planning on staying for a 24 hour vigil,
bringing candles, glow sticks, salmon lanterns etc. If people try and get folks to evacuate the lawns in front of parliament after the rally is over and the vigil begins
its everyone's personal decision to stay on the lawn and face consequences, or just move to the sidewalk. I will be moving to the sidewalk...
but yeah, I'm bringing candles, my guitar... an umbrella. To Follow what's happening, check out Alex Morton's blog: http://alexandramorton.typepad.com/
Or join the mailing list on salmonaresacred.org to get on Alex's email list.

SO.

My request is that you come, and/or that you plug salmonaresacred.org website and this event on the internet to your island people and dedicated Vancouver salmon people...
It's late notice, sure, but there you go.

 Mayday for Wild Salmon!

Please join us walking from Saanich to Victoria on May Day (1st) and for a rally at the BC Parliament.

The walk is 22km and will follow Route 17 turning off on Quadra St and then to the BC Parliament
via Bastion Square meeting up with the International Workers Day 'March for May Day'.

If you cannot make it in person please fly the flag in your community - details via: http://www.salmonaresacred.org/blog/fly-flag

Made the trek to Victoria yesterday for the walk and rally at the Leg.. Left at 5 AM back at 10 PM, boy the ferry is expensive these days, $75 for 2 of us and the car. :o
It was a beautiful day but not that well attended.
A couple of videos I filmed.
