HI.
Does anyone know the wherea abouts of a location along the Sea-to-sky-hwy in between Lighthouse Park and Squamish open to fishing.

I am  inquiring beacause Ive heard of  a location past horseshoe bay and close to a set of train tracks (right off the hgwy) that is fishable.

Ok, but what about the stretch from W. Park onwards to up to but not including  Porteau Cove......

Not much is available. Beside closure at Porteau Cove and the link Nitroholic has posted, a few things need to be noted:

There are two rockfish conservation areas along the Sea-to-Sky corridor where fishing is closed.

The daily quotas of rockfish and lingcod are also currently zero.

The only species that you may possibly target are perch, herring, greenling and salmon species during the season when they are running.

Hey Thanx Rod......

I am more interested in finding a quiet location that offers quality fishing for sole flounder ect......Not necessarily salmon , rockcod , lingcod ect.

I know that along that particular route there are different conservation areas but would like to find a spot  WHERE I can fish (with respect to rules & regs)

For sole and flounder, because of the type of bottom substrate along that area, I'm not sure they are ideal locations. Too rocky. The only place I can think of are beaches around Furry Creek, but that's just a guess as I have never fished there for these species.

Best to stay clear of the Lions Bay area as the RCA there is quite long.
The RCA maps are all nautical maps and quite difficult to tell where is where unless there is a good geographical reference point or you are using a marine GPS.
Both Furry Creek and Porteau Cove are well north of the LB RCA.

If you want to target sole and flounder I'd recommend trying Spanish banks since it's mostly a smooth sandy bottom.

X2 I've got quite a few starry eye flounders while smelt fishing.

There's lots of flounder/sole off West Van if you can access a boat.
After close of ling cod season last year, my friend dragged me to flounder/sole fishing off West Van and it was practically non-stop action.
We were probably fishing only a couple of hundred yards off shore.

I'm camping with my son at Porteau Cove this coming week, I don't have a boat boat, but i DO have a canoe.  I know the cove east of the line from the boundary signs is closed to fishing, but (assuming the weather is OK) I read the regs (and I'm dizzy now! LOL) that I should be OK to drop a line in the general area for bottom fish, yes?  The rockfish conservation area looks to be quite south of the area (the south point of Anvil).

I've only ever driven the area - wondering if there's anything fish wise close by that would keep the interest of a 10 year old that doesn't fish much??  Also, is there any crab in the area that we could catch basically off the side of the canoe with the small clamshell type traps? (basically, i just want the 10 year old to have some fun while we're camping - i'm not planning a major fishing trip here).

If you want to target sole or flounder I recommend ambleside beach. They has fishing pier.

how do you fish for sole and flounder?  what technique?
