Fraser Valley, November 13th 2010: Brood Capture For Cutthroat

With the cutthroat brood capture program set to start next week I spent part of today checking out some areas I will be fishing for them. Most of the spots were holding cuts with many bites, a lot lost and 9 landed with all but one being feeders.

Was good to see the float going down many times. The solitude of the day seeing not one angler made it a very enjoyable outing.

I decided to grab the fly rod and hunt for some cutties today too. Spent a lot of time walking and checking out some new to me areas. Some worth making a few casts at, others not so much. Found one beautiful area in particular  that looked pretty fishy and sure enough it was. Landed seven and hooked a couple more in just over an hour all fly caught. A couple of them were very nice size and quite chunky. It was very enjoyable to do something a little different that I have not done in a while. Very peaceful in a secluded spot all alone with the river,  a fly rod and some willing cutthroat. The spot I was at was a long walk from the truck. On the walk back, saw some very fresh bear tracks and could here something rustling in the near by bush.

Sounds nice , thanks for the report, these are the kind of days I like to hear about the best, and the kind i pursue the most. Maybe you should buy a tag and bring the gun next time. ;)
