Seymour
« on: October 11, 2010, 12:45:20 PM »

Checked out our local river - the Seymour today and the water height/ clarity is perfect ...... yet no-one fishing - how come???  ???

We couldnt stay and fish due to committments sadly.

Does this river not get any runs of fish - would be a real shame as it was great looking fly water!

Any (constructive!) thoughts welcome!  ;)

I saw lots of people at the pools above the canyon this afternoon.

You are right, the water is perfect, waders are essential though as it is still a little high.

I caught and released a wild coho this morning, sadly not on a fly though.

Hey Fonda - thanks for the heads up.

Cant wait for all this water to bring in fresh fish then drop away nicely for next weekend - I can feel my fly rods quivering with anticipation!!!  ;D

Hear you Fonda - mare!  :(

Pretty accurate stats NiceFish.  Still with only a handful of anglers 50 fish cummulative maybe aint so bad in comparison with say the Vedder where there are also a handful of anglers but sadly millions of snatchers  ;D

The Seymour is a sensitive system with recovering runs of fish... that is why you probably dont see people posting about it, feel free to go and explore the river but you probably wont get too many anglers posting reports, where to fish or glory shots on the internet about their trips there.

That is excellent! Great group, they do a ton of work on that river. Maybe Ill see you on the river, I do fish it more often now with a new baby but dont report about it over the net as to sound the gong like the meat holes on the vedder!

Perfect - look forward to meeting you - got the nod re the Chum carcass clean up, hopefully should be good to help out.

We will be both out - if you see a newbie couple say hi?

Hear you re Vedder - Cant wait for the Hwy 1 improvements to finish be easier for the freezer fillers to get there and leave the other rivers alone  ;D ;D ;D
