Trout bait recipe?
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:48:13 PM »

Does anyone have their own recipe that they would like to share with us so that we can put it on our bait, and get more bites?

I would suggest that you make your own Powerbiat. It's alot cheaper and much more rewarding.

Fill a large yoghurt container with worms. If you have a compost bin they are easily come by. Otherwise you can buy them. Get an old pot, spray it with Pam so the worms don't stick, and them cook them on medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until they break down into a paste. The smell will be a tad unpleasant so you will want toi have you window open or the range hood fan going.

Let the worm goop cool and then add in a thickening agent, I like to use oatmeal. Stir in enough so that the mxture is the consisitency of cookie dough. Mould it into little balls and, presto, homemade Powerbait at a fraction of the cost. You can also add some food colouring to colour your bait to your own preference.

Good luck!

Why green?

What natural food does that simulate?

they like the color

deli shrimp work very well on hatchery stocked fish but the good old slimy earthworm will still be the best option. Artificial lures will provoke a more aggressive strikes
