Very interesting.  I hear of many gear fishers going small, single eggs, minute spin and glows etc.

Here I see fly fishers going large, even huge.   Do the larger flies get fished in clear water?

Or are we talking different times of year?   Late spring for the large flies?

hey vaga i was just fishing so sorry about the dellay i was using one of the large tube flies the light coloured peach purple one and hooked a huge steelhead at least 18 and a total bar but lost it because he/her wrapped itself around a snag a keith wilson  :'( it was at the backing in all of one second but what excited me was it was my second steelhead hooked on the fly the first one was at the same spot but i lost it when it jumped it was also big the big ons are tied on a rope just google moal leech and you will get your answer it is a vid and yes i am a very sad fisherman

unfortunately if the rains raise the river levels then all those fish that have been "trapped" in there will get their chance to move upriver and then the hunt is on again  ;) the canal really only seems to be good fishing in low to really low water when the fish get trapped around the logjams and stuff. I avoid these fish myself unless i wanna get in there and get one really quick, bonk then go home back to bed LOL  ;D
